Programmable

Terms of Service

Last updated October 15, 2026

In plain English

  • You pay in credits: one a row, plus one for each extra-cost column group and per person found. Rows that fail are refunded (section 11).
  • Packs are one-off and their credits don't expire while your account is open. Plans renew monthly until you cancel in Settings; unused plan credits lapse at each renewal.
  • Your lists and results are yours. Use results for your own business; don't resell them as a dataset or use them for spam, sensitive lookups or anything unlawful (sections 5 to 8).
  • Data providers and AI keys you connect bill you directly, under your agreements with them (section 9).
  • Most disputes go to individual arbitration, not class actions; you can opt out within 30 days (section 19).

A summary to help you read the page, not a replacement for it: the full text below is what applies.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Programmable, LLC, a limited liability company based in Washington, DC, USA ("we", "us"), and cover your use of Programmable: the website and app, its API, its share and run links, monitors, the Google Sheets add-on and every related feature (together, the "Service"). Please read them carefully. Section 19 requires most disputes to be resolved by individual binding arbitration and waives class actions; you can opt out within 30 days.

1. The agreement and how you accept it

You accept these Terms by ticking the box that says you agree to them when you first sign in, and you accept updated versions the same way. If you use the Service for an organization, you accept them on its behalf and confirm that you have authority to bind it; "you" then means that organization. These Terms include the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy and, once you accept it, the Data Processing Agreement ("DPA"). If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

Changes. We may update these Terms. For material changes we'll email account owners and show the new version in the app at least 15 days before it takes effect (sooner where a change is required by law or addresses a security or legal risk), and we'll ask you to accept it the next time you sign in. Signed-in use requires acceptance of the current version. Use of the Service through an API key after a change takes effect also counts as acceptance. If you don't accept a change, stop using the Service and you may close your account; any prepaid plan period is not affected until its end.

2. Who can use the service

  • The Service is for business and professional use only, not for personal, family or household purposes. You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract.
  • The Service is offered from the United States for data about companies and people outside the European Union, the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. It isn't offered to customers located there or for looking up people located there or at companies based there.
  • You may not use the Service if you are, or act for, a person on a US sanctions list (such as OFAC's SDN list) or are located in a country or region under comprehensive US sanctions, and you won't export or use results in breach of US export-control or sanctions laws.
  • You may not use the Service to build or support a product that competes with it, or to benchmark it for a competitor, without our written permission.

3. The service

Programmable builds spreadsheets of public company information and business contact details at the moment you ask, from public sources, from its own lookups (such as DNS and email-format checks) and from providers you connect with your own keys. It doesn't sell access to a stored database of people: rows are streamed back to you and not kept, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Programmable doesn't construct people's email addresses itself. An address is returned only when it is in your list, published on the company's own site, or found or confirmed by a provider you connect with your own key; otherwise you get the company's email formats and how often each is seen, not an address. Results are best-effort. Data can be missing, out of date or wrong; addresses your provider marks as unverified are not verified, and "verified" means only that a check passed when it ran. Check results before relying on them where accuracy matters. We may change, add or remove features, sources and providers, and we may set or change usage limits. Features labelled beta, preview or experimental are provided as they are, may change or stop, and may be less reliable.

4. Accounts, teams and API keys

  • Give accurate account information and keep it up to date. You're responsible for everything done through your account, its team members and its API keys.
  • Keep sign-in details and API keys secret. Anyone with a key, or a link that carries one, can act within that key's limits. Revoke keys you no longer trust and tell us promptly at support@programmable.you if you suspect unauthorized use.
  • Teams. A plan can include seats for other people. Team members sign in with their own accounts and agree to these Terms themselves, but work on the owner's account: they share its credits, provider keys, sheets, links, monitors and integrations, and everything they do there is done on the owner's behalf. The owner is responsible for members' use and for inviting only people it's appropriate to share the account with. Admins can also manage billing and the team. Owners and admins can remove members at any time; members can leave at any time. When a plan ends, members go back to their own accounts.
  • API. Use the API only as documented, within the rate limits, spending limits and quotas we set or you configure. Don't try to get around them, use multiple accounts or keys to exceed them, or share keys outside your organization except through limited share links.

5. Your data

You keep all rights to the lists, files, prompts and settings you provide and to the sheets and results you get back ("your data"). We don't claim ownership of your data and we don't sell, rent or share it. You give us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process your data only as needed to provide the Service to you: to build the sheets you ask for, deliver them where you tell us to (the app, a download, your webhook, a CRM or spreadsheet you connect), keep the Service secure, and comply with law. We don't add your data to any database other customers can use, and we don't use it to train AI models. We keep public company facts and company email formats learned from lookups, which don't identify any person, as described in the Privacy Policy.

You confirm that you have the rights and any notices or consents needed to give us your data and to have it processed as these Terms describe. Where we process personal data on your behalf, you are the controller (or "business") and we are your processor (or "service provider"); the DPA applies when you accept it.

6. Results and how you may use them

Subject to these Terms, you may use results for your own internal business purposes, such as research, prospecting, recruiting outreach and keeping your CRM up to date, including after your account ends. You may not:

  • sell, license, rent, publish or otherwise make results available to third parties as a dataset, list or lookup service, or combine them into a database offered to others;
  • use results to build, train or improve a product that competes with the Service, or to train AI models offered to others;
  • use results for any purpose listed in section 7 or 8 as prohibited.

When someone asks you to stop contacting them or to delete their data, honour it in your own systems. People can opt out with us at any time (by emailing opt.out@programmable.info from their address, or at /opt-out), and opted-out details aren't returned in future results. When we tell you that a person has opted out or asked for their data to be deleted, stop using and delete their details as we ask, where the law requires it.

7. Your compliance obligations

You are solely responsible for how you use the Service and results, and for complying with all laws that apply to you and to the people you contact. In particular:

  • Privacy laws. You need a lawful basis for the personal data you look up and how you use it, including under the CCPA/CPRA and other US state privacy laws, and you must give any notices those laws require when you first contact someone.
  • Email. Follow CAN-SPAM and, where it applies, Canada's anti-spam law (CASL): identify yourself, don't use misleading subject lines or headers, include a working unsubscribe and honour it promptly.
  • Calls and texts. Phone numbers may be mobile numbers. Follow the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the Telemarketing Sales Rule, the National Do Not Call Registry and state telemarketing and do-not-call laws. Don't use autodialers, prerecorded or artificial voices, or text messages to reach anyone without the consent those laws require.
  • Not a consumer reporting agency. Programmable is not a consumer reporting agency and results are not consumer reports under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Don't use them, in whole or in part, to decide anyone's eligibility for employment, credit, insurance, housing, or any other purpose covered by the FCRA or similar state laws.
  • No discrimination. Don't use the Service to discriminate on the basis of race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability or any other protected characteristic.
  • EU, EEA and UK. Don't upload lists of people located there or at companies based there, or try to get their details through the Service.

8. Acceptable use

You won't, and won't let anyone else:

  • send unsolicited bulk email or messages that break the laws above, harass, stalk, threaten, defame or intimidate anyone, or look up people for those purposes;
  • look up or infer sensitive information (such as health, religion, politics, sex life, immigration status, precise location, financial account or government ID numbers), or data about children;
  • build profiles of private individuals or use the Service for consumer, personal or non-business purposes, including locating or monitoring a person;
  • impersonate anyone, or use results for phishing, fraud, social engineering or any unlawful purpose;
  • scrape, crawl or copy the Service or its output by automated means other than the documented API; reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract its source code, sources or methods, except where the law allows despite this restriction;
  • get around the opt-out list, our EU/EEA/UK exclusions, rate limits, spending limits, credit checks, access controls or bot protections, or test the Service for vulnerabilities without our written permission;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers or other customers, or upload malware;
  • use the Service to collect data from websites in breach of their access controls, or to infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
  • resell, sublicense or provide the Service to third parties (for example as part of a service bureau or white-label offering) without a written agreement with us.

9. Your own keys, integrations and third-party services

You can connect your own accounts with data providers, AI providers and other services (such as Apollo, Hunter, OpenAI or Anthropic), and connect destinations such as HubSpot, Salesforce or Shopify (a direct Google Sheets destination is coming soon). When you do, you authorize us to act for you with that service, send it the data needed to do what you ask, and receive data back. Those services are provided by third parties under your agreements with them, not by us. You're responsible for complying with their terms, for their charges, and for the permissions you grant; we're not responsible for their availability, accuracy, security or acts. We may stop supporting a third-party service at any time, for example if it changes its terms or API. You can disconnect a service at any time in the app, and you should also revoke our access in that service if you no longer want it.

Spending limits for your own keys are a convenience, not a guarantee: providers bill you directly, and may charge for requests that fail or that a limit didn't catch in time.

10. AI features

Some features send your prompts and relevant data to an AI provider you choose, using your key or ours, and return generated answers ("AI output"). AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or similar to output given to others; it isn't advice. Review it before you rely on it or act on it. You're responsible for your prompts and for your use of AI output, which is part of your data. Don't use AI features to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about people.

11. Credits, plans and payment

Rows cost credits as shown in the app before you run a sheet: one credit a row, plus one for each extra-cost column group you switch on (the email finder, leadership, performance and marketplace columns) and one per person found by Find people. Credits for rows that couldn't be enriched are refunded automatically. Credits have no cash value, can't be transferred or sold, and can be used only in the Service. AI and data-provider charges on your own keys are billed by those providers, not by us. Prices are shown in US dollars and exclude taxes, which you're responsible for except taxes on our income. Payments are processed by Stripe; you authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method for everything you buy.

Credit packs are one-time purchases. Pack credits don't expire while your account is open and are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.

Monthly plans renew automatically. When you subscribe you authorize a recurring charge, each month on the day you started, at the price shown when you subscribed (plus any seats and taxes), until you cancel. Each renewal adds the plan's credits; plan credits that are unused when the plan renews expire at that point (pack credits are spent last, so they're never the ones that expire). You can cancel at any time in Settings, or through the billing portal linked there, online and without contacting us; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period and you keep access until then. We'll email a confirmation of your subscription terms and of any cancellation. Moving to a bigger plan is charged pro rata at once and the extra credits are added straight away; moving to a smaller one takes effect at the next renewal. Fees already paid aren't refunded for partial months, except where the law requires otherwise.

Referrals. For 12 months after someone signs up through your referral link, you get 20% of the credits each plan payment or credit pack gives them (less the share of any discount), as credits on your account. Referral credits are credits like any other: no cash value, and they don't expire while your account is open. A refunded or disputed payment takes back its share. Referring yourself or accounts you control, or spam to promote your link, isn't allowed and we may remove credits earned that way. We may change or end the referral program; credits already earned stay yours.

Affiliates. Approved affiliates earn cash commissions under the separate affiliate terms. An affiliate's code takes a percentage off a plan for as long as that subscription stays active and ends with it; a subscription that has used one can't use another later, and it isn't also counted for referrals.

If a payment fails we'll retry and email you; if it still fails the plan ends and members return to their own accounts. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email; a change applies to your plan from its next renewal after the notice period, and you can cancel before then. If you think a charge is wrong, contact us within 60 days; please talk to us before filing a chargeback, and we may suspend an account while a chargeback is open.

12. Our intellectual property

We and our licensors own the Service, including its software, sources and methods, column definitions, design, documentation and brand. Subject to these Terms, we give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for your internal business purposes while your account is in good standing. We reserve all rights not expressly granted. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them freely without obligation to you. You may not use our name or logo without permission, except to refer to the Service accurately. If you believe something in the Service infringes your copyright, email support@programmable.you with the details required by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

13. Confidentiality

Each of us will protect the other's non-public information that is marked confidential or should reasonably be understood to be (for us, your data; for you, non-public details of the Service, its pricing terms offered only to you, and security information), use it only for this agreement, and share it only with people who need it and are bound by similar duties. This doesn't cover information that is or becomes public through no fault of the recipient, was already known to it, is independently developed, or is rightly received from someone else. Either of us may disclose information when the law requires, after giving notice where allowed.

14. Suspension

We may rate-limit, pause or suspend all or part of your access, with notice where practical, if we reasonably believe that your use breaks these Terms or the law, threatens the security, integrity or availability of the Service, exposes us or others to liability, or that a payment is overdue. We'll restore access once the issue is resolved. We may revoke API keys and links that we believe are compromised or misused.

15. Term and termination

These Terms apply while you use the Service. You can delete your account at any time in Settings (cancel any plan and remove team members first); this deletes your account records as described in the Privacy Policy and can't be undone. We may end these Terms or close your account for convenience with 30 days' notice, refunding any prepaid plan fees for the unused period and unused pack credits, or immediately if you seriously or repeatedly breach them, including any breach of sections 6 to 8, or if required by law.

When your account ends, your right to use the Service stops, unused credits are forfeited (except as stated above or where the law requires), and connected integrations are disconnected. Sections 5 (last paragraph), 6 to 8, 12, 13 and 16 to 20, and any amounts owed, survive.

16. Disclaimers

The Service, results and AI output are provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy and completeness, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that results will be accurate, current or lawful for your intended use, or that emails will reach their recipients.

17. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows: (a) neither we nor our suppliers will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, goodwill or data, or business interruption, however caused and even if advised of the possibility; and (b) our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and US$100. These limits apply to every theory of liability and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose. They don't limit liability that the law says can't be limited, or your payment obligations or obligations under section 18.

18. Indemnification

You will defend, indemnify and hold harmless us, our affiliates and our and their officers, employees and agents from any third-party claim, and the resulting losses, damages, fines, penalties, costs and reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of (a) your data, (b) your use of the Service or results, including your messages, calls and texts, (c) your breach of these Terms or of law, including sections 6 to 8, or (d) your use of third-party services. We'll give you prompt notice of the claim, reasonable cooperation at your expense, and control of its defence, but you can't settle a claim that imposes obligations on us without our written consent.

19. Disputes: arbitration and class-action waiver

Talk to us first. Before starting a claim, email support@programmable.you with a description of the dispute and what you want; we'll do the same with you. Both of us will try in good faith to resolve it for 60 days.

Binding arbitration. If we can't resolve it, any dispute, claim or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, including their formation, scope or enforceability, will be resolved by final and binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Arbitration Rules, before a single arbitrator, in Washington, DC or by video. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court with jurisdiction.

Exceptions. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either of us may seek an injunction in court to stop actual or threatened infringement or misuse of intellectual property, confidential information or the Service (including breaches of sections 6 to 8).

No class actions. Claims may be brought only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, consolidated or representative proceeding, and the arbitrator may not consolidate claims or award relief to anyone other than the individual party. If this waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim must be heard in court, not in arbitration. If 25 or more similar claims are filed by or with the help of the same counsel, they will be administered in batches as the AAA's mass-arbitration procedures provide.

Opting out. You can opt out of this section 19 by emailing support@programmable.you within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, from your account's email address, with the subject "Arbitration opt-out". Opting out doesn't affect any other part of these Terms. If we change this section materially, you may reject the change by the same method within 30 days of its effective date.

Time limit. To the extent the law allows, any claim must be started within one year after it arose, or it is permanently barred.

20. General

  • Governing law and venue. These Terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to section 19, disputes go to the state or federal courts located in Washington, DC, and both of us consent to their jurisdiction.
  • Electronic communications and notices. You agree to receive agreements, notices and other communications from us electronically, by email to your account address or in the app, and that they satisfy any requirement to be in writing. Send notices to us at support@programmable.you, with a copy by mail to Programmable, LLC, 3607 10th St NW, Washington, DC 20010, USA.
  • Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of all or most of our business or assets.
  • Force majeure. Neither of us is liable for delays or failures (other than payment) caused by events beyond reasonable control, such as outages of internet, hosting or third-party providers, natural disasters, war, labour disputes or government action.
  • Independent parties. We are independent contractors; nothing here creates a partnership, joint venture, agency or employment relationship. There are no third-party beneficiaries.
  • Severability and waiver. If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, it will be changed to the minimum extent needed and the rest stays in effect. Not enforcing a provision isn't a waiver.
  • Entire agreement. These Terms, with the documents in section 1 and any order form or written agreement signed by both of us, are the entire agreement about the Service and replace earlier understandings. If they conflict, a signed agreement wins, then the DPA (for personal data), then these Terms. Terms on purchase orders or similar documents you send don't apply.
  • Government users. The Service is commercial computer software and documentation, provided to US government users only with the rights in these Terms.
  • Questions: support@programmable.you.
